Network systems teach humility. A router does not care about the elegance of your explanation if the data plane cannot enforce capacity or preserve throughput under pressure.

That lesson transfers cleanly into data systems. Spark, streaming, storage, and AI pipelines all have data planes. They all have control planes. They all have moments when the two disagree.

The engineering habit is to ask where the packets, records, blocks, or tensors actually move. Once that path is clear, the rest of the architecture becomes easier to reason about.
